#6 Long time between posts

Difficulties with access restrictions at work and a heavy workload combined with only dial-up access at the Peninsula house meant that I haven't got as far as I hoped with this project. But now that I am spending more time in the 'burbs I have access to broadband and am a happy woman! Will now try and catch up with some of this "playing".

#5 Flickr Toys

Explored Flickr Toys and created a "Motivator" (see below) - simple and fun. Might be able to use these at work. Will have to get the digital camera into action.

#4 Flickr Fun

Posted a photo on Flickr through the vic libraries user access - very easy to do. Went searching through our store of photos (we have years worth on the pc) and, must be the mood I'm in, went straight to the folder of photos from a trip my husband and I took to Cairns in 2000. I have really happy memories of that trip. I had been feeling really low after the death of my father and my husband was booked to go to a conference in Cairns. So on the spur of the moment I arranged for the kids to stay with a cousin of mine and flew up with him. We tagged a few extra days to either side of the conference and I recovered in the sun. Must be the cold and the effects of winter added to the stress of a new house, new job, living away from the family but boy could I do with another holiday like that right now!

Got a bit confused with "tagging" until I read a bit more. Took a bit to work out how to edit the tags but once I located the link it was easy enough. So if you search for Cairns, Queensland, holidays, pools or sunshine, my photo will appear - along with thousands of others!!!!

#3 Reflections so far

It was really easy to set up the blog. It would be fun to spend more time refining how it looks and adding interesting bits. Hopefully over the period of this exploration of the technology I will find the inspiration and time to make this more my own. At the moment it is a case of catch up and keep up!

#2 It can't be 2 weeks!

I've always been so used to being able to just hop on the Internet at home at anytime. If I logged on with the home office computer downstairs it bumped the kids off their connection on the laptop upstairs! Now I am on dial-up 70kms from home and if anyone is on the broadband account I can't even log on. It's like going back to the dark ages. Consequently I put off doing any personal Internet stuff until I head back to Melbourne. But my window of opportunity is only a couple of hours on a Sunday night - hence the two weeks.

Work is so full on that even getting to my email is a challenge let alone finding time in the day to "play" with these new technologies. Tight controls on the Shire's network mean we have to book on to the public PCs which is a pain. But... I need to stop making excuses and actually do something don't I?

#1 Only 15 minutes - oh yeah!

So this was only going to take 15 minutes a day! Then where has the afternoon gone? My daughter is rolling her eyes and getting more annoyed, waiting for that lift I promised, as once again I cry "I'll only be a minute". Looks like there is going to be quite a bit of time involved in this "playing" as, true to nature, I just have to deviate and explore this little thing here...
